Teaching our Children to Refute Evolution and Defend Creation

How many schools and universities in America are teaching the lie of evolution? As Christians, we know that God's Word is true (Prov. 30:5-6, John 17:17, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, and many more). And His Word explains how man was created from the dust of the earth (not evolved from a chimp) in Genesis 2:7 and that we were made in God's image in Genesis 1:27. It also tells us that God created animals and plants to reproduce after their own kind (Genesis 1:11, 12, 21, 24, 25, and more). In fact, God says "according to their kind" ten times in Genesis 1 so we know it must be important! So why would God repeat this phrase 10X? Probably because He knew that one day man would come up with the theory of evolution where one kind supposedly evolves into another kind and He didn't want us to fall for this blatant lie!

So how have so many Christians fallen for this lie? Two reasons. They don't know what the Bible teaches because they have never studied it for themselves and because the atheist evolutionists are really good at deceiving people. Sadly, many Christians have allowed secular science to be their authority over Scripture. This is a very dangerous and slippery slope. Ever heard someone say, "The Bible answers the why and science answers the how"? Well that's a bunch of hogwash! The Bible absolutely answers both. "For when he spoke, the world began! It appeared at his command." - Psalm 33:9 (NLT) God spoke the world into existence over the six days of creation week. To believe that God spoke the world into existence takes faith, but it takes even more faith to believe that nothing created everything as the atheists do.

It really comes down to the difference between observational science and historical science. Ken Ham does an amazing job of refuting the lies of evolution and millions of years in his book, "The Lie".¹ We need to teach our children about the differences between these two kinds of science. Observational science is based on evidence such as fossil records. All scientists start with the same facts. But then we get into historical science which is our beliefs about the past. This is where our worldviews affect our interpretations of the fossil records. Creationists have a biblical worldview. They believe God who was there at the beginning and is infallible (cannot make errors). Their beliefs are based in Christianity. In contrast, the evolutionists have a naturalist worldview (they won't even consider the supernatural to be an option). They take the fallible ideas of man for how the world was created. They do not believe in God. Their views are based in atheism.

Let's break down some of the evolutionists' lies. First, evolutionists try to claim that all changes are "evolution". They use the term "evolution" as a blanket term to describe changes within kinds (adaptations), changes between species (speciation), and kinds evolving into other kinds (evolution).

Now we know that there is no such thing as evolution - not micro nor macro. There are adaptations which include natural selection, mutations, gene drift, and gene flow (see chart above) and speciation (which I'll explain in another chart in a minute). And here's the problem with the theory of evolution, in order for one kind to "evolve" into another kind it would require information to be added to DNA. And as we would expect as Christians who believe in the truth of God's Word, there is absolutely no evidence of information being added to DNA. All we ever find is a rearrangement of information in the DNA or a loss of information, never a gain!³

In order for evolution to work information must be added to DNA but we only ever see a loss of information in DNA.

Evolutionists try to conflate amount of material with amount of information.⁴ However, amount of material and amount of information are not the same thing! If you copy pages from a car manual and insert them into the manual, you are not adding any new information. You are simply adding material. In order for new information to be added to DNA, it must have 'specified complexity'. If I take a bunch of Legos and throw them in a jumbled mess on the floor, I will have complexity but not specificity since there is no order to the jumbled mess. If I take a few Legos and line them up in a pattern, I will have a specific order (specificity) but not complexity. It's just a simple pattern. Now if I take those Legos and build a complicated helicopter, I now have specified complexity because my Legos are complex AND orderly.

In order to count as information in a way that DNA does, the instructions must be clear. DNA letters must have a specific sequence in order to create instructions. See the chart below to better understand this concept.

Man did not evolve from a chimp nor a fish as evolutionists believe. I put this chart together to help people understand the semantics of the words used by evolutionists as opposed to creationists. Use this to teach your children these differences so they will not be deceived when someone claims evolution is true.

Understanding the Semantics of Creation v. Evolution

Evolutionists like to use what many call the 'bait and switch' method to deceive the masses. This is where they use the concepts of adaptations and evolution interchangeably. They are actually committing a logical fallacy called 'equivocation' where they use the same word in different ways within the same argument.² Claiming they have proof of evolution, they cite examples of adaptations (which all creationists agree with). Then they say, "See we have proof of evolution!" while referring to molecules to man evolution. Or they try to make the creationists look like they deny science by saying "Creationists reject evolution!" referring to molecules to man evolution. "But here's the proof of evolution" and they proceed to cite evidences of adaptations. "See creationists deny the evidence!" Even though no creation scientist denies adaptations (changes within kinds). So be sure to teach your children how to recognize these lies and understand the truth.

The Evolutionists' Bait and Switch Method

Why do the evolutionists continue to believe in this lie when there is no evidence to back it up? Because they do not want to believe that God exists; if they acknowledge that God's Word is true, then they know that they are in big trouble on judgement day. Sadly, they love their sins too much to seek out the truth. Because once they know the truth, they will have a choice to make. Either give up my sins and turn to Jesus the only righteous one who never sinned and therefore the only one who can pay my debt; or keep living in sin and face the wrath of God for eternity.
